Getting Rid Of Scabies Naturally

Having scabies is an embarrassing and irritating problem. It is an infestation of tiny little burrowing mites that are members of the flea family that live under the skin. The females burrow under the skin and make a nest. They lay their eggs and eat the flesh and blood of the host. Their feces is what causes the rash to appear as it has an ill effect on the person with this ailment.

There are some natural remedies that will soothe the irritation of the rash. Boil six onion skins in one quart of water until the water is a bright yellow. Cool it and rub it onto the skin as often as needed. Another is to put one teaspoon of penny royal into a coffee mug, add boiling water, steep for ten to fifteen minutes and strain. Cool it then apply to the skin. Or, roll several teaspoons of mountain mint into a ball, rub the ball onto the rash which will soothe the skin and repel the bugs too.

There are thankfully plenty of ways to get rid of them once you have them. Some are prescriptions available from doctors that are very effective. On the other hand there are several remedies for getting rid of scabies naturally too. Neem leaves and turmeric root can be taken in a 4/1 paste and applied once a day for three to five days or until the infestation has stopped.

A few others are thyme oil, tea tree oil, oregano oil and olive leaf oil. Either of these rubbed on the affected area daily will kill these vermin. The rash will disappear within a few days after using this method. These oils will also help with the itch and burning sensation that goes with these bugs.

This is a problem for animals too. In them it is not noticeable until it becomes extreme. At this point it is called mange and by this time the animal is very ill if not close to death. These critters live off the host and as their eggs hatch they become yet more parasites sucking the blood from the animal or person. They breed rather quickly which means it takes less than six months for a medium dog to become so infested that they look pretty raggedy.

All of these methods can be used on animals too. They are safe for them just as they are for humans and the pet will become very fond of the person who is able to rid them of this subcutaneous critters.
